Theramedic Rehab Inc. partners with Gleaners Food Bank to feed homeless

Theramedic Rehab, a multi-specialty outpatient rehab facility in Metro Detroit has partnered with Gleaners Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan to host a food drive to collect donations to feed the homeless and low-income families during the November and December holiday season.

Each year, Gleaners Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan collects nearly 39 million pounds of food and distributes 89,000 meals daily to 171,000 children a year. “As a regional leader in bringing health, wellness, and healing to our community, we want to give back to the community we serve,” said Theramedic Rehab Director of Marketing & Communications, Kevin Virant. “It gives us the opportunity to partner with another organization to better serve those who are in need this holiday season,” he said.

Theramedic Rehab has a goal to donate at least 250 pounds of food through the end of December to help starving families and individuals this holiday season. According to a 2016 study by socialsolutions.com, more than 560,000 people in the U.S. are homeless, with 8 percent of those individuals being veterans.

“This is a great opportunity for us to give back to the communities we serve on a daily basis,” said Theramedic Rehab Director of Operations, Kelsey Thomas. “We’ve been looking to become more involved in community events, and partnering with Gleaners helps both organizations accomplish those goals.”

Theramedic Rehab’s contributions to the holiday food drive start in November and run through mid-December. For more information on how to get involved contact Theramedic Rehab at 248-565-4000 or connect with Gleaners at www.gcfb.org/.
